Bourjois healthy mix foundation serum review and swatches
As most of you will recognise this is the bourjois healthy mix foundation, I have this is the the shade 53, which is a bit dark for my skin at the moment until I start to tan again. On the bourjois website they describe it as being fresh and instant blending gel texture blends and glides onto the skin for an even, natural finish with no mask effect. Imperfections are erased, signs of fatigue are smoothed and the skin’s radiance is boosted for up to 16 hours. The company bourjois is a sister brand of chanel and is cruelty free and vegan friendly.
This used to be a holy grail product for me in the summer, but now my skin is paler the shade 53 looks orange on me and makes my pores look huge! So because of that I will have to do a review of what I remember when I was using it in the summer, so sorry if I don't cover everything about this product. Starting with the smell of the product, as this is a major part of foundation to me as I cant stand plastic smelling foundations as they put me off wearing them, I actually really like the smell of this one. It smells like fresh apricot, which is not overpowering or too sweet smelling, I think it is the best smelling foundation I own, so if you are fussy with the smell of foundation I would really recommend this foundation.
The consistency of the foundation is no different then any other liquid foundation, but it is quite thick as it has medium to high coverage. I chose the serum version of the bourjois foundation as that was recommended for me as I think it works better for dryer skin types. The fact that there is two versions of the healthy mix foundation to fit different skin types really makes this a great foundation if you are just starting out in make up and don't know what foundation suits you.
Also the shade range in the foundation is quite good if you have light to medium skin tone, so you should not have too much of a problem finding one to match you.
The finish of this foundation is a dewy one on my skin, but if you have oily skin type then it might make you look shiny so I would recommend the other normal foundation in healthy mix, not the serum version. The only problem I have with this foundation is except from the colour, is that you can easily put too much on and it can look cakey but if you experiment you should find what is the right amount for you.
so this is a swatch of the shade 53, and as you can see this foundation has a more yellow undertone so it works better with warmer skin tones, but it doesn't mean that if you have cooler skin tone it won't work for you. I would say this is my most high coverage foundation, as I don't have acne prone skin so I prefer my foundation to be more natural looking. This foundation if you use a small amount, in the right shade and blended well it can look quite natural but can take longer to apply.
To get a hold of this product in the UK you can buy in boots, superdrug, eBay and Amazon for around £9.99. In the US I think they discontinued it in sephora but they do sell it on ASOS with free US shipping: http://us.asos.com/Women-Beauty-A-To-Z-Of-Brands-Bourjois/x02ct/?cid=1451&xr=2&xr=1&mk=na&r=3&r=2#parentID=-1&pge=0&pgeSize=36&sort=-1

MAC pink butter cream pearl matte face powder review and swatch
As you can see I have used this quite a bit and the white edge overlay has wiped off. This face powder is from the baking beauties collection by MAC, which was released may 2013 internationality. As this is limited edition this was retailed for $29 US dollars.
As you can't buy this on the mac website now, the price can vary. If you want to purchase this in the UK on eBay it retails for around £30 including postage and packaging, but in the US it retails for $35 dollars including postage and packaging.
It is described as being "light silvery pink base with dark pink flowers and periwinkle leaves". The powder is extremely sheer light baby pink colour, it is actually like the cake in the picture. I think if you want to use it for the whole of your face a a sheer powder then it is best for cool toned skin as the blue leaves will help with your complexion. For me it works either as a highlighter, face powder and a light blush as I am neutral toned.
what I really like is how it doesn't cling to the dry patches in my skin, if I use it as a face powder it just brightens up my face and gives a satin finish over the top of my foundation. I would not recommend it by itself unless you have great skin, as it has low coverage, which is expected as it is a satin finish not matte. My skin type is very dry and sensitive, so I have to be extra careful on my face products. This does not break me out or give me any skin irritations what so ever, which is a big thumbs up for me as I find it hard to find face products that work for me. If you have oily acne prone skin this probably wont be the product for you as the sheer coverage will make you look more shiny and we not help your acne as it might. But if you are dead set on trying it I would recommend wearing a high coverage matte foundation underneath and then blot your face and re apply the powder to combat shine. The only reason I am so against people buying it if you have oily acne prone skin is that it is a lot of money to spend if it makes your skin worse, but if you do find a method that works so that you can wear this powder please share :)
This is one of the hardest product I have had to swatch, as my camera does not show the pigmentation of the product well. As you can just about see in the picture the product is a champagne pink powder, with a blueish undertone. Sorry my camera does not give the shimmer much justice, but there is a lovely cool natural looking sheen to it. To me the swatch of this products looks like more of a highlighter then a powder. This would go lovely on more lighter skin tones, I am not sure what it would look like on darker skin tones. what is a benefit of this product is the fact that it is multifunctional and can be used for many things in your make up routine. It can be used as a powder by it self just to give you a natural glow or as a overlay on your foundation to give a sheen to it. It can be used as highlighter on your cheekbones, inner eye and brow bone. I use it more as a blusher, as I have trouble finding a blusher that is not too pink toned for my pale skin and it looks more natural than having a bright pink on the apple of my cheeks for me.
This is what the product should look like new, as you can see brand new there is a white powder round the edge of the powder, this wipes of after you first use it as it is just an overlay. so when you first use this product there will be a lot more shimmer pay off, so the second time you use it the results will obviously be different.

MUA heaven and earth palette review
This is what the actual palette looks like from a picture on the MUA website. As you can see the eye shadows are all neutral colours with shimmer in them. The eye shadow colours are probably best for brown eyes, but that being said I have green eyes and they still work for me.
This palette is the first product that introduced me to the brand MUA, which I am so happy that I purchased as I really love the brand and have built up quite a collection. On the MUA website the ingrediants of the palette are: Mica, Talc, magnesium Stearate, Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-1, Ethylhexyl palmitate, Polybutene, Dimethicone, Propylparaben, Methylparaben. All MUA products are cruelty free which is always a bonus but I am not sure if they are vegan friendly. The palette is retailed for £4.00, which is a steal!
Now to the actual review, the colours I use the most on this palette is the three light pink champagne colours and the dark grey, brown colours at the end of the palette. I use the pink champagne colours in combination as a base on the eye shadow for a lot of my eye looks, but also as a highlight for inner corner and brown bone. The darker brown taupe colours I use in my crease and I blend it to create depth and to make my eyes look bigger. This palette is great for creating the perfect smoky eye for evening and everyday.
I see this palette being mentioned a lot in the beauty world as the colour range is comparable to the naked palette. I think this is MUA's most wearable palette that you can use everyday as it has multiple uses and is not too out there for everyday. so if you want eye shadows that you can use everyday and feel like you are not overdoing the eye make up than this is for you. As for me I find that I am not comfortable wearing bright eye shadows unless for a special occasion, but if you have the confidence and enjoy brighter eye shadows then maybe other MUA palette's might be for you.
The consistency of the actual eye shadow is a more dusty feel but I find that I like how it applies as it blends well and is easy to apply. so for a beginner this is perfect as it is easy to create a beautiful look so simply. The only problem with the consistency is that as it is more on the dusty side there can be some fall out, but I don't find it to be a problem and I am quite picky about any product that goes on my eyes. For the price of the product I can't really complain, so overall I recommend this product greatly especially if you are a bit tight for cash and want to add some more eye shadows to your collection. Also if you just starting out in make up or want to vary your everyday eye make up then I think go for it!
To get your hands on this beautiful palette they are sold directly in superdrug in the uk. However some smaller stores don't always stock the palettes and there can be a problem with them being sold out as they are very popular. so If that is the case you can order of directly from the MUA website, its free delivery if you spend over £30, but if not the postage cost is £2.95 for standard shipping in the UK . MUA does ship internationally which costs £7.50 and European delivery is £4.95. It is worth signing up to their newsletter as they have a lot of sales on their products regularly making them even cheaper and they sometimes even have offers on shipping .
